Robyn is a South London-based jeweller, designing with the philosophy that roughness and refinement can coexist.

The Story

A reverence for the rich, sensory world of the Byzantine Empire is always present in Robyn’s jewellery. The air is heavy with cloves and the deep, resinous perfume of burning incense, while the earthiness of olive oil grounds this intoxicating and sacred realm. Stories of devotion unfurl from finely crafted, and the hands that hold them are adorned by beaten and hammered gold rings.

These artefacts are worn yet beautiful, dented and patinated by the passage of time. It is this balance of irregularity and opulence that Robyn celebrates in her jewellery, reimagining these details with a modern eye.

A Note From Robyn

“A strong sense of history permeated everything in the Byzantine empire, and it was this that really resonated with me. Preserving Roman traditions and transforming old columns into the pillars of their architecture, their history was literally built into the foundations of the new. Their past and present being so deeply intertwined has shaped my understanding of what it means to be truly timeless.“

Inspired By

Fascinated by the museums in which so many of these ancient treasures lie, Robyn spends hours sketching artefacts and details from classical architecture to better understand their form. The environment itself provides a wealth of inspiration too, from the descriptive plaques to the plinths that hold each carefully curated display.

Studying the intricacies of these objects over many years, Robyn has created a rich tapestry of drawn references from which each collection grows.

Material Ethos

Honesty of material is a guiding principle in Robyn’s jewellery. Using only recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones, Robyn takes a slow and considered approach to design.

She embraces traditional wax carving techniques to root each piece in craftsmanship, while leaving the marks of their making to create a strong sense of origin.

Made to Last

Every piece is made in her London studio, and Robyn works exclusively with a small, family-run casting company and skilled setters based in the historic jewellery quarter of Hatton Garden. Much like the time-honoured artefacts they are inspired by, Robyn’s jewellery is designed to be coveted and handmade to last.
